Anyone up for a challenge? Like lose a certain amount or do a certain amount of excercise by a specific time? Suggestions?
February Challenge: Lose 7.5lbs - CONGRATULATIONS to Jenny!! She was the first to meet and surpass the Feb. goal!
March Challenge: CONGRATS to Jenny again!!
Weight loss: 7.5 pounds
Diet: Add 2 more servings of fruit/veggies per day. If you are on WW and fruits, etc., count as points, then choose veggies that are 0 points, or adjust your points if you want fruits.
Water: Increase your water intake by 16oz per day.
Exercise: Add 30 additional minutes of exercise per day. If you currently don't work out, then you don't need to add anything over and above the 30 minutes. And it doesn't have to be streneous exercise. Just get up off the couch and move your body! Push the kid(s) in the stroller, chase them in the backyard, do a workout video, ANYTHING! (5 days minimum)
April's Challenge:
-Lose 7.5 pounds
-Work out atleast 30 minutes / 5 days a week.
-Add extra water to our diets
-Go out and find one article of clothing that we would like to "get into". That means we have to buy it a little snug or tight in hopes of losing enough to get into it....
May's challenge:
-Lose 7.5 lbs
-eat at least 5 servings of fruits or vegetables per day
-find a bathing suit or swim attire that you would like to look better in it and strive to feel better in by the end of May!
June - took a break
July's challenge:
-Lose 7.5 lbs
-Fit in a size smaller than you are now!

Dudette, I am all about a challenge. My big co-op board is having a biggest loser type contest right now. Everyone that wanted to participate sent in $10, a mod collected the funds through her paypal account. We each posted starting pics of us standing on the scale (so you could see toes and the weight) and starting weights and then every week we post how much we lost that week, and more pictures if you want. So far I am in the lead with total amount lost, but not highest % lost....and overall we are going by %. The "contest" lasts 12 weeks and this week is week 5. And I'm down 18.2 pounds since we started the contest. Though I've lost nearly 27 pounds since I joined the gym in late October.
Our mods created a private password protected room so that we could post our weights, photos, etc., without the entire board seeing our business.
I think there are 25 of us. The biggest loser gets $250.00 and that's by highest % lost. Then one other prize...$10 for most lost by total weight.
So...what type of contest do you have in mind??? :P

I dont know, maybe just lose 5 lbs (or more) in Feb? Or we can try and do a biggest loser thing ( I would love to do that!!). But I dont think we could gather enough people...

Thank you. I am working really really hard.
I think we could certainly do a challenge each month. From what I can tell through reading through the threads, EXERCISE seems to be the hardest thing for people. I've really found out that it needs to be BOTH diet and exercise for the weight to come off. I lost 10 pounds in 2 months through exercise alone, but didn't do anything about my diet. I just wanted to get into the routine of getting to the gym everyday and once I got that under my belt, I started working on my diet and that's when the weight really started falling off.

Until I joined the gym it was really hard for me to workout. Sure, I took the trio for a walk every day, but there's only so fast their little legs can go so I never got my heart rate up.
Do you get a lunch break? Can you exercise on your lunch break? Go for a power walk or something?

7.5 pounds is a good weight loss for one month! :silly:
I did my workout today already, and will get another 2 hours in tomorrow. I wish it weren't so frigid cold here, I'd take the trio for a bike ride, but they are COLD. We were outside playing and they were all bundled up and lasted about 15 minutes.

Have fun! It might be hard at first but it gets easier. I love exercising - it gets so addicting. Which reminds me that I need to start doing it again. :silly:

No, haha, we just started yesterday! Just go from whatever you weighed in the beginning of the month (at least thats what I did). That was the last time I weighed. Good luck!
How bout this? The first one to reach the challenge goal weight for that month gets to set the weight goal for the next month?? Do you like that idea, or should we change what the challenge is?? comments, suggestions?

So I tried to work out last night by doing a work out video. I got home from work, fed DS and then plopped him by his toys and I started the video. He screamed the entire time I was doing it. Needless to say, I didn't finish the video.... I guess the only time I can do it is after he falls asleep and I'm dead tired? :pokey:

That's what I would do. When DH and I were working out together... (videos) We always waited till the LO was down and asleep... Usually around 8:30-9:30.....

I want to join in. Will you all accept another challenger? My starting weight is 212.3. I don't think I can loose 7.5 lbs by the end of the month, seeing as we are pretty much half way through the month. I will go for 4.5 lbs.

So i just weighed in and I am donw a total of 6.8 lbs. But I am sick and I didnt eat anything yesterday. So I am not going to cound this weight until i start eating again and then I will weight again.

Well most days. It's been kinda cold. But by the time we get home in the evenings it's too late after supper get's done. I am going to try and do my 10 minute workout DVD..... Maybe that will work...

I totally recommend the 20 minute workout from Jillian (the 30 day shred) it goes by really quickly and man, you really work out!

Let's talk about the challenge for a quick sec.
I think of a challenge as something that "forces" you to step outside your comfort zone and do something that you are normally not used to doing. So adding some exercise for someone who does not normally workout could be a challenge. Or eating 6 servings of veggies a day when you normally only eat 2. Or cutting out bread, or cheese, or really any food that you normally eat.
What do you think of as a challenge??

Oh, I can't live without caffeine. :laugh: I have 3 kids and am a full-time grad student. I NEED CAFFEINE. But it would be a challenge for me to cut out diet soda.
I'm just having a hard time coming up with a challenge that would challenge EVERYONE.

I like exercising too but probably bc I'm doing it now going on 2 weeks. I'm about to step it up too...run 2.5 miles 6 days a week, do 30 lunges, 10 push ups, and sit ups with my ab roller every time I run. OUCH! :)
What was the challenage this time around? I was sort of confused? I know it was a weight loss. I've lost 5 lbs so far. 5 to go to meet my own little goal (and only 16 days to do it...uh oh!)

I think we need to combine a few elements like exercise, diet and weight loss.

Ok I suck,,, I have totally been avoiding this thread because I know this month is going to be even harder on me but I got to do it! So my March start weight is 226.4 and that means I need to lose 7.5 pounds putting me at 218.9 in about three weeks. I am getting my bike this weekend and hope that helps with me weight loss. Also I am adding water and I don't really have to add any fruit or veggies because I am already eating my lot in those. So If I can lose the weight, excercise and drink water I got this challenge licked. Where is everyone?

I lost 1.8 lbs this week! Down to 213.2! I drink tons of water everyday, I do th 30 day shred everyday ( LOVE IT!!), and I try to eat all my fruits and veggies! All in all, I think I am doing pretty good this month so far!

I'm down 7 pounds this month, but only because AF left (I always gain lots of water weight)and I was sick for hours last night. I'm still counting it, but I hope to lose at least 3 more "real" pounds.

Ok here is my monthly update
March starting weight = 226.4
Todays weight = 222.8
Total lost pounds = 3.6
Pound left to lose = 3.9
I think I can still get this! I just have to keep working at it. I know it's not alot of weight lost but I am lossing it slowly and I am managing to keep it off. They say slow weight loss is better than fast because you will keep it off longer. I hope there right cause I have been working on my weight since June 2008! lol
My water intake has gone from about 16 pz a day to more than 64 a day now.
I am contiously trying to eat more veggies and fruit each day.
And I am trying to walk atleast 30 minutes or more, 5 days a week. I am also trying to do some crunches and sit up's too.
So thanks Jenny, the Challenge has been helping me.

I weighed in today and I went down 2.5 lbs!!!
I started running and do the Shred video on days I don't run! I am up to 2 miles running and I am doing shred Level 2 twice a week (the other days it is level 1). I drink tons of water and eat all my fruits and veggies or come really close. Loving this challenge too, Jenny!

Ladies, if you could see how hard I workout, I think you'd understand. :laugh: When I pick the kids up from childcare they always ask "mama did you take a shower, you are all wet" and they ask me that everyday! I am so sweaty. I work really really hard. Really hard. And when you have as much to lose as I do, then it's possible to pull some really big numbers. If I weighed 150 pounds, I would not be losing 11 pounds in one week. Guaranteed!
So I met goal #1. I have 2 more goals to make. By years end. I think I can do it! :hooray:

That means we have to buy it a little snug or tight in hopes of losing enough to get into it.... Sound ok?

Ours was $10 too. Obviously we had more people than you did. :laugh: Round 2 just started yesterday and so far we have 12, but they have until the end of the week to sign up. I'm not feeling so confident that I'll win round 2. I motivated A LOT of other women, so I have some competition this time around. And since I lost 66 pounds in 12 weeks, and really worked my butt off, hurt my knee and elbow, so I think I'm going to slow my pace down just a tad. I'm aiming for 36 pounds this 12 weeks.

It's called The Six Week Body Makeover. Really bland food with NO salt, sauces or anything. I would cheat a tiny bit though and like dip my fork in some ranch or bbq sauce or something just to add a tiny bit of flavor. I ended up eating A LOT of ground turkey, rice, grapefruit...it was cool to see the results but when I think about the food and the repetition of the food, it makes me hesitant lol
Also, you have to eat like 6 times a day and I very quickly got to the point to where I was like "DANG, I have to eat AGAIN????" I felt like my whole life revolved around it and I was soooo tired of eating!

ok,, I tried on my shorts and the look HOT! DH smacked my butt as he walked by me,, so that made me feel pretty darn good in them too!
May Challenge Rocks!
I will lose the 7.5, I will eat 5 servings of fruits and veggies per day and I have a swim suit that fits but I don't think I look great in, So this monthe is going to be filled with my toning and shaping.

Ok, so i weighed in today:
May starting weight: 196
Weigh in today: 194.5!
Weight lost: 1.5!
Amount left to lose for May goal: 6 lbs
I need to try on my bathing suit and see how different it feels on by then end of the month!

-find a bathing suit or swim attire that you would like to look better in it and strive to feel better in by the end of May!
