Anyone have any advice on what type of potty to buy. The dr. thinks we should start training and since I haven't bought one yet, I thought i would ask for input.

I bought a potty chair and then a seat that goes on top of the regular toilet
Danielle loved to sit on the chair, until she peed for real, she FREAKED OUT!! (she does when she pees where she is not "supposed" to, even the shower) so she doesn't want to deal with that one anymore. She is OK sitting on the toilet seat and peed 2x without the freak out

I like the little seat that goes on the toilet. That way there's nothing for me to clean up afterward. Plus, with the little potty bench I got, the hole is much smaller and it makes it easier for C to pee everywhere but in the potty.

I bought a no-frills potty seat (no characters, simple colors, etc.) that has a removable insert to go onto the real toilet. We use this option MUCH MORE.

We have the basic seat with the pull out section to drop into the toliet. Ian has yet to actually go on it, though. I like the idea of having both kinds- the traditional potty chair and then the seat for the real toliet. Then the little one can decide what makes them most comfortable.

I just made my dh switch out the children's toilet seat and we installed a flip and flush yesterday. Ella LOVES it. She kept saying that the Dora seat (the little insert that goes in the big potty) was hurting her, so I had an extra F&F left over, so I showed it to dh, he loved the idea, and quickly changed out the seat. It's awesome!! I got blue, but really wishing I had gotten pink.

I just got one this weekend! It's a 3 in 1; a regular potty chair, with a seat you can take off and attach on the regular toilet, and the bottom of the chair becomes a stool! Haven't tried it yet, but this should cover our bases!
It also has flushing sounds and I can record stuff that it will "say" when he goes! It was only $10 at Big Lots (Safety 1st brand!)!

I use a real generic one that can be used as a step stool when the lid is down, they can go in the potty and the seat can also go on a big toilet. In one of our bathrooms, we have one kind of like Jenny as well, we got it from Target. KR didn't use anything but that one.

We've got a regular potty seat - one of her aunties bought it for her and it's Winnie the Pooh. The top portion removes so you can put it on the big toilet if you like, and there is the removable cup for dumping. Personally, we use the it as a potty seat more than we do placing it on the big toilet - that way she can get on and off of it herself and I can see how much she actually did (so if it is a 2 drop potty or a real potty). We have had almost no #2 accidents in the last week now, if only we could say the same about #1!

we got a potty where the seat can sit on the regular toilet. also check to see how the cup in the inside sits and if its easy to remove. our first potty taylor used to pee though the crack where the seat met the cup so we had to get another one.

I have the normal blue potty that they had back when Dylan was little becuase it looks like the very one I used with him. I am thinking I need to buy the one that goes on the toilet. Katie use to go often but regressed when we moved and had Savana so I am trying to get her back into it.

We splurged and got the baby bjorn one that sits on the top of the potty, b/c C was having trouble with keeping his legs closed with his penis up. We found that this seat opens his legs just enough with the splash guard that we don't have messes. It was highly worth the cost! We got 2 for $40 on diapers.com with the $10 first timer discount.

We have the flip and flush and the regular potty chair that turns into the stole. Chloe will choose the flip and flush over the potty seat 90% of the time.

We have a no frills one and now my Mom is going to send the Fisher Price one that sings and praises them. I can't believe she is crazy enough to post it all the way to Holland, but she will.

The ones that sit on the toilet are the best choice for us!
I tried the Diego potty with Landon but he went to sit on the thing and it fell over. my sister had a heavy wood one so I borrowed that but we are now using the seat that goes right on the toilet

I think it depends on the kid I bought my son a nice potty seat that can be used as a step stool also but he hates it he has always sat on the big potty but we are still potty training also he loves to flush the toilet so that may be why he likes the big toilet.

I had a regular potty and one of those that seats that sit atop the regular toilet. My daughter used the regular potty once and didn't like it, plus cleaning it was a pain. I bought her a step stool and that was that she only used the regular toilet. She'd always come in when I was going to the bathroom, so she wanted to be like mommy and use the big toilet. It helped a lot! Plus use pull-ups she felt like a big girl. Didn't take long at all to train her.

I had a friend who potty trained her son sitting on the toilet, but to teach him how to stand and pee, his daddy took him outside and they would practice peeing on a tree in their back yard, that way if he missed, there wasn't too much of a mess to clean up. Obviously, this might not work depending on where you live! Good luck!

I love this idea, however, have you seen Big daaddy w/Adam Sandler. You know the part where the kid thinks it's ok to pee anywere??? This would be my fear.
