My pregnancy/labor with my ds was fairly uneventful. Had a late term m/c at 19 weeks in June of 2005; had trouble getting pregnant the 3rd time...had m/c at 10 weeks February of 2007. Pregnant on Clomid with Madeline...had low lying placenta (corrected itself), anemia, and then sudden onset severe preeclampsia at 34 weeks. Was induced and then had to have emergency c-section under general anesthesia. She was 3lbs 9oz, and in the NICU for 2 weeks. Doing great now.

Well, I don't have any small children (my youngest is 20 years old), but are grandmas welcome here, too? I have a little granddaughter, Brooke, (my son's daughter) who was born on December 11, 2005, and I have another grandchild on the way (via the older of my two daughters). Anyway, here's my info:

I had premature labor with every one of my kids, although David ultimately went full-term. I spent six weeks (from 29 weeks to 35 weeks) in the hospital, on meds to prevent labor (still went into labor every few days anyway, which they had to put me on IV meds to stop), then at 35 weeks, they said they wouldn't try to prevent it any longer and would just let him be born if I went into labor again. Wouldn't you know I went home and didn't go into labor until three days before his due date? Go figure!

With Erin, I went for my check-up at 24 weeks and they doctor discovered I was 2 cm dilated, although I wasn't at that point having any contractions. I developed a fever and probable uterine infection a week later and they said they had to go ahead and deliver the baby or we could both die.

With Laura, I went into premature labor at 27 weeks. They stopped the labor and sent me home on meds. A week later, I was back in the hospital in labor again, which took 48 hours to stop. They kept me in the hospital after that. As I had with David, I kept going into labor and they would have to give me shots or magnesium iv to stop it. When I went into labor again at 35 weeks, the doctor wanted to try one last time to stop it with terbutaline shots but they didn't work that time and Laura was born that night.
