Well girls...I just don't know what to think. So, i triggered on Sunday evening and I was CONVINCED that I was ovulating yesterday. I had total stabbing/shooting cramps that I always feel when I O. I was in a panic and called RE's office, because I was scared we were going to miss our peak timing by doing the IUI this morning. They never called me back and I just put myself into a frenzy. I told DH and he said let's get to BD'ing. I told him we should wait and save if for the IUI. He said "but what if we miss out" I just couldn't shake my instinct and we ended up BD'ing at midnight last night. I KNEW it would affect our IUI and sure enough..his count after wash was 3 million. My RE said it is basically impossible for a man to recover and produce a "normal" sperm count within 8 hours of ejaculation. He also was not worried about it AT ALL. He said if I o'ed yesterday and had timed intercouse that was great. He went ahead and did the IUI and said "more was better than none" and because we know the low volume was due to previous ejaculation he thinks I'm in good shape. I don't know..I just feel like maybe I messed up our chances and maybe I'm o'ing today and there won't be enough spermies up there. What do you girls think?

I say BD again tomorrow morning or evening. That was our protocol for our IUI and my DH had 4 million sperm post wash.

Karen and Amy- If this cycle doesnt work for us then we are moving to IVF also, I have already made an appt on the 25th to talk about possible grants to help us pay for it so hopefully this cycle works! Maybe we will be a team of 3 for IVF!?

ktbelle97- IUI went well DH's numbers werent as high as he hoped only 3.5million so we will be moving to IVF if this doesnt work.

So this is almost exactly what happened to me..My one and only IUI that I was able to do on Clomid.. I went in on Day 9 (it was a saturday)..they told me my IUI would be on Monday..well they called me later that afternoon and said..you are having your LH surge early (naturally) so go ahead and take the trigger if you can NOW.. and your IUI will be tomorrow morning(sunday) I thought we were supposed to BD on the night of the trigger..so I asked the nurse and she said go ahead if you can and BD.. so we did.. and then less than 24 hours later, DH had to give his sample..It was only 7 million postwash... and his last analysis prewash was 175 million..so it was pretty low for us. When I told my regular nurse what happened, she told me if it happens again, not to do it...but it was fine. So my whole point in saying that is.. I think you covered your bases by BD and IUI...and again, we know our bodies

The bloodwork they will be checking your estrogen levels, and with the u/s they will be checking the follie sizes, , they will keep doing it until your follies are the right size, then they will have you trigger and you will go for the IUI the next day. Good luck!! You have to tell us what the sizes are, we need updates, we want to know every detail!!

Yep..just what Chris said! Make sure you ask how many follies and how big. They will probably want you to have an u/s every 2-3 days to measure your response. Once a follie reaches 18 + mm, you will trigger and do your IUI 24-36 hours later. In my case, my RE does them 36 hours later, but other docs like Chris do it 24 hours later or back to back IUI at both 24 or 26 hours. Excited to hear your results!

Hi Girls.. Quick update at least on ultrasound part.. I will hear about the bloodwork later.. BUT, so as of Day 6 (today) I have 14 follicles under 10mm and 4 over 10mm. Two I believe are 12 and 13mm.. so I am going back on Saturday for more BW and U/S.. I really dont understand completely what these numbers mean..but I think its pretty good!

Awww. The bigger they are, the more mature they are and have a chance of producing an egg. The follicles surround the eggs.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Or if you can think of better wording.

My RE wanted them to be around 20mm.

Hmm.. so how are injectables that much different than Clomid..I know the chance for multiples is higher on injectables, I guess I'm not really sure as to why..after all is said and done, I'm becoming a human pin cushion over here..

First off, 14 follies is FANTASTIC. They are called antracal follicles which means they are in the early stages of development. Janeen is right, the bigger ones have the best chance of maturing. Keep in mind all 14 of those won't mature, but depending on your continued response to the meds, you can expect 1 to 3 of them to. Once the dominant follicle reaches 18mm or over you trigger. The difference between Clomid and injectables, is Clomid works thru your brain by telling your hormones to grow those follies. The active medication in injectables actually grows the follies directly. I know that is a highly unscientific explanation I just gave, but am trying to lay it out in "human speak". Because Clomid deals with your brain and hormones, thats why the side effects can be difficult (at least they were for me)..injectables doesn't mess with that, that's why I found it much easier. And yes, w/injectables you do become higher risk for multiples..but thats why they monitor you every few days. I hope some of this makes sense, but bottom line you are off to a fabulous start and I can't wait to hear how it goes on Saturday.

Thanks so much for the explanation..that does make more sense.. I think I actually have 18 follicles They said 14 of them were under 10mm and then the other 4 were over 10mm (12 and 13mm).. So would those four probably grow the fastest? what happens to the other 14? sorry for all the questions.. I'm freaked a little because my first cycle..I had 11 huge follicles on Day 9 and they had to cancel my cycle

So my nurse called with the bloodwork.. and said that I should continue on the Gonal-f 112iu.. She said my Estrogen was 267 and my LH was 3.36.. She also said I have 3 follies almost there at 11, 12, 13.. What do the Estrogen and LH levels mean?

Pretty good!! those are fantastic!! You need them to be at least 20mm to fertilize, your on day six and they are responding quite well, you will have a bunch at 20 in no time, then you will trigger and do the IUI. Great news!!

Yep this lovely lady said it perfectly!!

The estrogen is what keeps the follies in there and growing, the lh is what will tell your body to start producing progesterone to support the pg. Thats why they watch those two numbers to make sure your not going to O before they can do the IUI. I think this is what happens, anybody else, am i wrong here? And dont worry about the questions, we will answer any an all of them you have, i am surprised that your dr is not telling you anything, that kind of sucks.

I hear ya, sometimes I think the nurses probably draw straws to see who has to call me b/c I always have so many questions! Last time I talked to the nurse I started out venting about the meds and by the time the call was done I was crying! She was prob like, what a patient!!! LOL

Oh yes...fabulous levels, honey!! Wow..I'm just in awe of how awesome this cycle has been for you. It's sooooooo going to be a BIG, FAT, JUICY, STICKY BFP for sure!! As for me, my doc doesn't do progesterone tests during the 2ww. I have, however, been on Prometrium since one day past IUI. Weird how docs have different protocols. I'm so excited for you, sweets! If only we could fast forward a week!!

Awwww mixing them has got to be a huge pain, i know how annoyed i get with the hcg, its the only one i have to mix and trying to get it out of the vial sucks, there is such a small amount. Your questions are not crazy, they are normal, and never feel like your bugging the nurses thats what they are there for. Of course you can ask us any time you want we are always glad to answer you if we know it.

I sure hope this cycle works, i am just so afraid that its been so perfect and i will end up with a bfn, trying not to stress about it, and just let it happen lol. I cant believe your dr does not do progesterone tests, i would think even though your taking the prometrium that they would want to check anyway, how weird, i know my drs office checkes it a week after iui to make sure its up enough that way they know you O'd and if its to low then they would put me on the Crinone gel. How about you, how are you doing? Any symptoms yet? When do you go for your pg test?
