An important first step for Couples

Fertell is the first at-home fertility test for couples. Its patented, clinically-proven technology helps couples accelerate their path toward conception, enabling both the male and female to test for key elements of fertility. The tests are taken in the privacy and comfort of your home, with results in under 90 minutes.  Fertell is available without a prescription at www.fertell.com and at select pharmacies.

The Fertell Male test measures the concentration of motile sperm which are the sperm that can readily swim to fertilize an egg.  Natural fertilization is unlikely if the motile sperm concentration is too low.

The Fertell Female test measures the level of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) in urine on the third day of a woman’s cycle. FSH is an indicator of Ovarian Reserve, which is a measure of the age of the ovaries and their ability to produce eggs capable of fertilization.

How the Fertell Fertility Test works

Each kit contains a male test and a female test.
  • After producing a semen sample, the Fertell Male test challenges the sperm to swim up a fluid-filled chamber, mimicking the process that the sperm would go through inside the female’s body as it tries to reach the egg.  The results are ready to read in about 80 minutes.
  • The Fertell Female test measures the level of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) present in first morning urine on Day 3 of a woman’s cycle. The test is conducted similarly to an at-home pregnancy test. The female places the test’s absorbent tip in her urine stream for 5 seconds and results are ready to read in 30 minutes.

Benefits:

  • Evaluates key elements of a couple’s fertility
  • Provides fast results when you want them
  • Lab quality results in the comfort of your own home
  • Clinically proven 95% accurate

How is Fertell different from an Ovulation Prediction Test?

There is an important role for both Fertell and ovulation prediction kits in the conception journey. Fertell is important because it evaluates your key fertility elements. While ovulation prediction kits do not test key fertility elements, they do provide important information about the timing of your ovulation cycle.

Fertell allows you to measure aspects of both sperm and egg health in the comfort of your home. It does not predict ovulation.

Background:

Fertell is a fertility screening product created in England.  It has been offered in England since 2006 and has already helped thousands of couples.  It has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is now available for sale in the U.S.  Fertell is the product name and is manufactured by Genosis Inc.

American Pregnancy Association Recommendations:

Although screening is not necessary for everyone, it becomes a useful option for those who are trying to conceive and are not succeeding as quickly as they would like.  It is particularly relevant for couples who have delayed conception for career or other reasons or for those who are looking to take an active step to obtain more information about their fertility.  If either partner’s test results are outside the normally expected ranges, consultation with a doctor is advised for further testing.

One-third of fertility issues can be attributed to males, another one-third to females, and the remaining one- third to both members of a couple,  If there have been struggles in conceiving, the Association recommends male fertility screening or testing be done first since it is easier, more economical, and less invasive than female diagnostic procedures.  The combination testing of the Fertell package helps with this male screening while adding a valuable initial look at female fertility as well.
