The following strategies are a representation of the education, research, advocacy and community services that the American Pregnancy Association utilizes to accomplish our mission:

Education:

  • Maintaining a national toll-free helpline committed to providing immediate education and access to resources to resolve consumer needs related to their reproductive, pregnancy and sexual health.

  • Ongoing development of interactive websites that ensure access to updated information about current reproductive, pregnancy and sexual topics.

  • Leveraging corporate partnerships to facilitate access to pregnancy health information such as nutritional and safety certifications.

  • Providing access to educational brochures, pamphlets and other printed collateral enabling consumers to learn in the comfort of their own homes.

Research:

  • Conducting research through the toll-free venue to identify trends, needs, and statistics to support other research and create the foundation for providing additional services and programs.

  • Sponsoring reproductive and pregnancy health studies through education and research institutions (leveraging the expertise of our Medical Advisory Committee) to identify new discoveries that promote reproductive, pregnancy and sexual health.

  • Maintaining national and state statistics that highlight trends and needs to support state and federal programs and to emphasize where additional services and programs are needed.

  • Publicizing findings in various venues that include the AmericanPregnancy.org website, press releases, professional journals, and consumer magazines.

Advocacy:

  • Enhancing maternity benefits among corporations and businesses which include the reproductive concerns of infertility and adoption.

  • Promoting support of maternity coverage through insurance providers.

  • Lobbying legislatures for laws that enhance reproductive, pregnancy and sexual health.

  • Protection directed at physicians that empower them to practice obstetrics without exorbitant premiums and unnecessary lawsuits.

  • Strengthen laws that protect maternity health, such as preventing pregnancy from being diagnosed as a preexisting condition.

  • Seeking governmental support that serves socioeconomically challenged women and families and moves them from dependent public assistance.

Community Awareness:

  • Developing public awareness of the needs, concerns and resources that are available through public service announcements in various media venues.

  • Promoting innovations and discoveries that enhance reproductive, pregnancy and sexual health.

  • Delivering press releases that inform the public on pregnancy health discoveries, education and research.

  • Partnering with other health organizations to provide the consumer with comprehensive health information through community health fairs.

  • Promoting reproductive, pregnancy and sexual health through national spokesperson(s).
