babykick is a Celebrated Winner of an iParenting Media Award
kickTrak named as outstanding product of 2007
Manhattan Beach, Calif -- August 6, 2007—Named as one of the outstanding products of 2007, kickTrak™ is an honored recipient of an iParenting Media Award. iParenting Media Awards is considered the largest certified and audited evaluation systems of children’s and parenting products in the industry. kickTrak has surpassed extensive screening by iParenting’s experienced reviewers and the industry experts have confirmed what many moms have experienced and shared.
The innovative kickTrak™ tracks and counts down pregnancy progress, reliably tracks the baby's movement pattern after 24 weeks, and times contractions when labor begins. The non-invasive, hand-held record-keeping device was developed by an obstetrician, is recognized by the American Pregnancy Association and doctor recommended as a safe and simple device for expectant women to track the health of their pregnancy. Changes in the data allow a mom to promptly alert her doctor of problems and potentially reduce the risk of stillbirth. kickTrak is bilingual in English and Spanish, uses 2 AAA batteries and is built to last through multiple pregnancies. kickTrak can be found by visiting www.babykick.com.
"Receiving this award is such an honor," said Diep Nguyen, MD, developer of the kickTrak. "Our mission is for all expectant moms to experience a safe and healthy pregnancy. Winning this award and spreading the word about the ease of kick counting during the third trimester helps not only with our mission, but encourages moms everywhere to check on their baby’s health."
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Pregnancy Association recommend kick counting as a way for expectant mothers to keep track of their baby's health. Kick counting can be started after 24 weeks. The understanding that babies have sleep cycles can alleviate mothers’ anxiety toward kick counting. In general, healthy babies should complete ten movements within two hours and most babies achieve this in less than 15 minutes. Expectant mothers should note the time it takes for their baby to complete ten movements, at approximately the same time each day when the baby is usually most active. The healthcare provider should be alerted immediately of changes in the baby’s normal pattern or if the baby takes more than two hours to complete ten movements.
"In this time of increasing pre-term birth and increased managed care it is important to encourage mothers to become ever more engaged with the progress and health of their pregnancy," says James C. Caillouette, MD, Clinical Professor Emeritus, U.S.C. Keck School of Medicine. "babykick’s kickTrak is a proven methodology, and when used on a regular basis as suggested, will provide increased mother, baby and physician communication, which is beneficial for everyone. I am confident that kickTrak will become standard of care."
"kickTrak can serve as a prenatal preventative tool to provide moms the peace of mind between their doctor’s appointments," Dr. Nguyen added. "Moms-to-be can become part of their medical team to ensure a safe and healthy pregnancy."
iParenting reviewers have this to say about kickTrak:
"This product allows you to keep track of how many times your unborn infant kicks while in the womb. This product is great for high-risk pregnancy. My physician was impressed with the fact I was able to keep an ongoing record of fetal movement." "kickTrak did bring peace-of-mind. As a third time expectant mom I found myself wondering if everything was okay with the baby many times. Just picking up this device and plugging in kicks gives you visual positive feedback that things are going along well."
