Lubrication
What should I know about lubrications and condom use?
Lubrications make penetration easier and help prevent the condom from tearing. Some condoms come with lubrication. Water-based lubricants are appropriate with latex condoms, however latex condoms may be weakened when used with oil-based lubricants.
The following lubricants are NOT recommended with latex condoms:
- Baby oil
- Bag Balm®
- Body lotions
- Cold creams
- Cornhuskers® lubricant
- Massage and mineral oils
- Olive oil
- Peanut oil
- Petroleum jelly
- Shortening
- Sunflower oil
- Suntan lotions
